Hua Hin
is a famous beach resort
town in Thailand, Located in
the northern part of the
Malay Peninsula. It has a
population of 84,883 over
the area of 911 km2, some
200 km south of Bangkok,
Thailand and is one of 8
districts of the Prachuab
Khiri Khan province.
Hua Hin Town is
located in the coast of
Hua Hin
District. With an area
around 86.36 sq. kilometers,
the town has about 50,000
inhabitants. It is a beach
town for Bangkok's elite.
Following the
international trend for
recuperative spa resorts in
1920's, Hua Hin
became a popular retreat for
Thai Royal Family, Bangkok's
high society, and affluent
foreigners. Although
Hua Hin's fortunes
declined after WW II, its
historical connections have
helped it become popular
again with a new generation
of Bangkokians. The
town has two main streets.
For those who arrive on the
train, the main street,
Damnern Kasem boulevard
leads from the stately
Hua Hin
Railway Station, straight to
the main Hua Hin
beach a distance of 1km,
passing various government
offices and ending on the
beachfront by the side of
the former Royal Railway
Hotel, now the five-star
Sofitel Central Hotel Hua
Hin.
Generally, Hua
Hin does not have
rowdy beer bars and raucous
nightlife as on the other
side of the Gulf. The
superior beaches, wide open
endless stretches of fine
powdery white sand, are
relatively serene and clean,
the pace of life calm and
relaxing, and ideal place to
bring the family for their
annual holiday.
